Artificial intelligence (AI) is developing at a rapid pace, which is changing the educational landscape and opening up new avenues for instruction. To provide a more customized and adaptable learning environment, the smart classroom integrates digital technology, artificial intelligence, learning analytics, interactive gadgets, and human-centred pedagogy. But meaningful education cannot be ensured by technology alone. Effective learning still depends on teachers' emotional intelligence, moral judgment, creativity, mentoring, and contextual awareness. While teachers still play a crucial role in interpreting data and directing pedagogical decisions, recent research shows that AI-supported smart classrooms can support personalisation, formative assessment, instructional adaptation, and data-informed decision-making (Llurba et al., 2026). In a similar vein, UNESCO (Miao & Holmes, 2023) stresses a human-centred strategy that uses AI in a way that is safe, ethical, equitable, and meaningful rather than as a substitute for educators. This essay examines the idea of the "smart classroom," the complementary roles that AI and human teachers play, the main uses, advantages, difficulties, moral issues, and potential future developments. It contends that the most successful smart classroom is one in which AI innovation enhances human knowledge and allows teachers and students to achieve richer, more inclusive, and more individualised learning rather than one in which machines replace human intelligence.
